 OVERVIEW

DIN-Rail is metal rail used to mount industrial control devices in a control panel (many industrial control devices are inherently designed to mount to din-rail). DIN-Rail can also be used for other mounting requirements as needed. Various materials, sizes, and styles are available to fit the needs of different applications. Accessories include support brackets, screws, mounting clips, and more.

Specifications

• Aluminum, Electrogalvanized Steel, & Stainless Steel available
• Slotted or Solid
• • High (15mm) and Low (7.5mm) profiles
• Miniature DIN rail option (5.5mm profile)
• Support brackets in 20mm to 90mm heights
• Mounting clips secure devices to 35mm DIN rail
• RoHS compliant

International Standard

DIN rail specifications were developed by Deutsches Institut für Normung (German Institute for Standardization) in Germany in the early 1900s. Since then, DIN standards have been adopted internationally. Many components are designed to be mounted directly onto DIN rail without additional accessories or steps.

Application

DIN rail has many varied uses across different industries and even in residential or commercial settings. However, the primary use is to mount components directly to the rail. Mounting on DIN rail makes installation faster and easier, allowing components to be quickly snapped or slid into place without needing to individually mount each device to the panel board. Virtually every industry makes use of DIN rail.

 Selecting

Material

DIN rail is available in a few different materials. In many cases you will want to match the DIN rail material to the material of your chosen enclosure. Other concerns may be factors such as corrosion resistance or strength of the rail. Of the available materials for our DIN rail:
• Aluminum is resistant to corrosion.
• Steel is stronger than aluminum but NOT corrosion resistant.
• Electrogalvanized steel has a zinc coating that give it corrosion resistance while having the sturdiness of steel.

Solid vs Slotted

Both solid and slotted DIN rail is available. The primary advantage of slotted DIN rail is that it does not require a punch to be installed inside an enclosure or on another surface.

Profile

The profile specification for our DIN rail refers to how far the raised section of the rail protrudes from the base. Choose the profile that best fits the needs of your application based on space and other concerns.
