Determining Motor Full Load Amps (FLA)


The motor FLA can be found on the motor’s nameplate and will vary depending on the size of the motor and the input voltage used. See Figure 1 below.

  •    • Note that current corresponds to the voltage used.

  •    • For this example, we are using a 3 HP motor which draws 7.26 amps at full load when supplied

The motor in Figure 1 will draw 7.26A at full load when supplied with 230VAC power.
