Updating Systems with Burr Plumbing
Burr Plumbing is based in San Jose, California, and serves the area with plumbing and electrical work. Their business focuses primarily on municipal, industrial, and commercial services. This includes new construction, underground sewer and water mains, gas piping, and every aspect of plumbing and electrical. Their team consists of licensed plumbers, electricians, and engineers, and they are willing to take on a variety of standard and custom work for their clients including those that fall outside the normal bounds of plumbing.
Recently, they were hired by a large corporation to upgrade one of their facility’s systems. This facility includes storage tanks for storing waste grease from sanitary food waste drains. “Normally, at a restaurant, every drain in the kitchen will flow down into the ground [and through] a grease interceptor,” Eric Burr clarifies. These gravity-based interceptors separate the grease, solid, and water. The grease waste from multiple properties is transported and then stored at this facility. Up until now, the facility used a rather simple pumping and containment system that would sound an alarm when the tanks reached critical fill levels. The system was redesigned so that the tank levels could be constantly monitored and had multiple “status level” signal lights leading up to critical. The system uses a panel designed by the FactoryMation panel shop. It includes an FMX PML Series panel meter that enables both detailed and at-a-glance monitoring of the tank’s fill level. Three different lights on the panel then light up based on the tank’s fill level and an audible alarm is included when the tank is at risk of overflowing.
Burr Plumbing is used to unique jobs. According to Eric, their first time working with the FactoryMation panel shop was when they were approached by a convent in the area that needed to bring a property up to code to be put on the market. “This is an order that had been around since my mother’s time back in the 40s… I believe they were instrumental in the restorative work that went on… after the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco,” he explains. “You folks… built me a custom panel for [the] old catholic nun’s facility,” he explains. They had an old wastewater treatment system from the 1940s, and the treatment plant for it was considerably out of date. There were a number of processes that needed to be controlled, and Eric designed a system to adequately control them to the municipality’s standards. Part of this system was a control panel designed by the FactoryMation panel shop.
When Eric was first looking for a panel shop to do custom work for him, he shopped around a bit before discovering FactoryMation. His usual panel supplier was not up to the task of highly customized work, and ultimately, he decided that FactoryMation offered the design quality and professional appearance that he desired to reflect the quality of his own work. “When I turned to you guys, I had a panel built almost instantly,” he reflects. “[You] built me a panel that worked perfectly.”
FactoryMation’s goal is to be the answer that companies like Burr Plumbing need to find success in their own work. Stories such as this continue to inspire FactoryMation to work hard at being the best choice for industrial control products. FactoryMation strives to deliver world-class products, outstanding service, and superior prices that equate to the best value in the industry. This unbeatable value allows customers to be even more successful in their respective industries.
