Pack Manufacturing Sows Success in Horticulture
September, 2019
Pack Manufacturing is based in McMinnville, TN, and has been producing equipment for the horticulture industry since 1993. McMinnville has been dubbed the “Nursery Capital of the World” with over 400 nurseries and greenhouses. This positions Pack Manufacturing to maintain the experience and expertise necessary to design and build many custom machines that perfectly fit the industry’s needs. Their customers are almost as varied as their product and include industry giants, international buyers located in countries as far-flung as Japan, and virtually any other industries that have need of custom-built material handling machines.
From start to finish, the Pack Manufacturing production process is done in-house. They take pride in being responsible for everything shipped with their name, ensuring reliability and function. This means that every step starting with design and going all the way through production is taken with great care by team members such as Nathan Marling, Pack Manufacturing’s Chief Project Engineer and near twenty-year veteran of engineering. Nathan oversees custom projects as well as production of their standard product lines such as the PM1100. The PM1100 features a two-yard hopper, eighteen-inch conveyor, and fills up to a sixteen-inch pot. This filler can fill 1,800 flat per hour or 1,100 pots per hour. Pack Manufacturing even recently supplied a PM1100 to one of the world’s largest seed companies located in Florida along with a custom built in-line soil mixing system to work with it. Whether it is their smallest standard flat filler or a massive custom machine with a 25-yard hopper, Pack Manufacturing is up to the task and ensures quality at every stage.
“Being able to just jump online and find what I need and get it, get it here quickly, is definitely a plus,” Nathan Marling begins in explaining why they continue to choose FactoryMation years later. “We keep a bill of materials on your website [so we can] just load the cart and go.” Pack Manufacturing does virtually all their ordering online, and this means they can even keep bill of material lists for individual project types to make repeat orders as quick as possible. Combined with quick delivery, free shipping, and competitive prices, this ensures shopping is easy and painless. “Ease of access, bill of materials, free shipping, customer support… It’s a great company to order from” Nathan concludes on their relationship with FactoryMation.
Success stories of customers like Pack Manufacturing are why FactoryMation is in business. Stories such as this continue to inspire FactoryMation to work hard at being the best choice for industrial control products. FactoryMation strives to deliver world-class products, outstanding service, and superior prices that equate to the best value in the industry. This unbeatable value allows customers to be even more successful in their respective industries.

Application Challenge
As a customer for nearly a full decade, Pack Manufacturing has had years to assess FactoryMation’s value. “We buy typically anything we can from FactoryMation,” says Nathan. He explains that FMX products and other brands purchased from FactoryMation are used in all their product lines. They make use of pre-built panels and especially enjoy the “efficiency of pre-built start/stop boxes” to supplement the more complicated and application-specific custom panels they build themselves. Alongside FMX contactors, overloads, and pre-built panels, many WEG, Eldon, and Mersen products are incorporated into the batch mixers, flat fillers, and other machines that Pack Manufacturing designs.
