Savannah Yacht Center is Set to Sail with FactoryMation
Great prices, high quality, and ease-of-ordering are key factors in the industrial world. A competitive price allows value to carry forward to customers, high quality products ensure reliability and safe operation, and easy ordering allows a company to obtain the correct parts and obtain them when they are needed. The Savannah Yacht Center chose to rely on FactoryMation for the parts needed to upgrade their facility and complete new yacht projects because FactoryMation’s mission hinges on providing all three.
As their name implies, the Savannah Yacht Center is located in Savannah, GA. They are conveniently located off the Savannah River just in-land from Tybee Island. This yacht center is best described as a “premier deep-water superyacht maintenance, repair, and refit facility,” and they provided a variety of services for yachts and their crews ranging from maintenance and refueling to repainting. The Savannah Yacht Center’s location near Hilton Head Island, Tybee Island, and the city of Savannah also provides plenty of opportunities for a boat’s crew to pass the time while their vessel is expertly serviced at the yacht center.
The Savannah Yacht Center’s facility has a long history dating as far back as World War II. “This facility used to be part of building ships and boats for the Navy” such as minesweepers, Michael Tarvin explains. Michael is the Electrical Supervisor at the Savannah Yacht Center. A U.S. Navy veteran as well as veteran of the electrical and yacht-maintenance fields for over thirty years, Michael is well-positioned to choose the right products for the job. He ensures that the parts they install for their facility and in customers’ yachts can get the job done, and his job requires him to also balance reliability with cost. The Savannah Yacht Center facilities are currently undergoing updates, and Michael’s task is to make sure that they are fully updated by September 2019 to accommodate many more boats at once. While the impressive yacht center is currently able to host up to 300-foot yachts in its graving docks alongside more in the wet docks, Savannah Yacht Center plans to improve this capacity greatly over the coming months.
Parts from FMX and other FactoryMation brands have been selected for updating the facilities and servicing yachts. For example, Michael explains that they had to replace and update parts in the air compressors in one building. FactoryMation parts such as FMX manual motor starters and WEG soft starters have been utilized to upgrade the existing control panels to enhance capabilities. Other FactoryMation parts are used to service yachts. “I love your [tool-free] fuse holders with the snap-locks,” he says while recalling one recent project. The Mersen fuse holders, WEG pushbuttons, WEG indicators, and more help operate and protect heat exchangers that keep fuel cool while out on the ocean.
Overall, Michael and Savannah Yacht Center expect they will continue to order from FactoryMation for the foreseeable future. “I was using [another direct automation supplier], and your prices were a little bit lower and quality [is just as good],” Savannah Yacht Center’s experienced electrical supervisor notes. “I’ve gotten everything from you in a timely manner and when you said I would, and [free shipping] helps us out on this end.” Michael was also pleased with the ease of ordering from the web store. According to him, the website is very easy to use. With FactoryMation, Savannah Yacht Center was able to find the intersection of price, quality, and convenience that they aimed for.
